INTRODUCING HEMP BASICS

Here at The Bare Road we are forever seeking ways to ensure we are stepping toward a greener future, and developing a range of clothing produced with hemp is just one of the ways we are committed to reducing our environmental impact.

 This incredible natural fibre has started to redeem its image as a fashion forward fibre after its long affiliation with hippies and stoners; it is now used as a staple by many well recognised companies around the world. Interestingly enough, unlike its not-so-sober cousin marijuana, hemp contains very minimal traces of the psychoactive component THC, so the only high we get from hemp is the feeling we from knowing we are doing a good thing for the planet.

Another huge advantage of hemp as a fibre is the fact that only a small amount of water used in production, up to 50% less than cotton, and the growth of the plant is much less invasive than cotton too. And for all of you linen lovers out there, hemp feels and wears much the same.  Ticking all of the boxes if you ask us!

 One of the main reasons introduced hemp as the focus fabric for our basics is the durability of the cloth, and trust us when we say it just gets better with age. For this range, we wanted to offer our staple pieces, the ones that get worn and washed the most, in hemp to ensure they survive the test of time.

 True to the origins of the label, here at The Bare Road we love designing for comfort without compromise; dreaming up trans-seasonal essentials that are classic and effortless, and this time around these pieces have been created with the environment at the forefront of our minds.  We really think we have nailed it using hemp and by being able to supply you with these pieces we hope you are willing to join on us on the journey to a more sustainable future.
